For approved TIP trainers looking to pickup horses from our Storefront facility, the following procedures should be followed:

1. Select a Horse Either directly from the BLM pen directly or from the horses I have available for pickup at my facility.

Please keep in mind that you should ALWAYS personally inspect the mustangs you are picking up. Pictures that others post of horses in the corrals may not always show you that a horse has a clubbed foot, or capped hock, or just finished kicking the tar out of the horse next to it. By making your selections in person you can be sure that the horse(s) you select are what you want. If you select a horse to be delivered to my storefront and then realize that the horse is too hot or doesn’t have the conformation or size you thought it had, you don’t HAVE to pick it up but you will no longer be able to pick up horses from my facility.

2. Send Email – Send an email to Grant Lockie (glockie@blm.gov) and myself the horse #(‘s) and general description that you would like to have delivered to my storefront facility.  One of us will let you know approximately when the next load will be brought in.

If you are wanting a horse I already have at my facility and that is still showing as available for TIP pickup you must STILL email Grant and copy me that you want to pick up that horse. We’ll work together to arrange a pickup date.

3. Arrange Pickup – Once a load is finalized BLM will determine a specific delivery date and all trainers picking up from the storefront location will be notified of that date via e-mail. Deliveries to the storefront location in Littlerock, CA will occur during the week and you will be expected to pick up your horse(s) NO LATER than 6pm on the Sunday following the pickup.  If you can not pickup your TIP horse within this time frame you should wait for the next delivery or pickup the horse directly from the facility.

4. Paperwork – Upon pickup you will need to sign paperwork for the BLM and MHF just as you do when you pickup from the facility. You will need to leave the paperwork with me and I will return it to the BLM. BLM will then send you any copies for your records.

5. Health Record / Halter – Upon pickup you will receive a copy of your horse’s health record. Please bring a halter and lead rope with you. If you forget a halter, I can usually provide a halter and lead rope combo for $15.00 but it is best to ask before you come.

6. What if the horse needs to be returned? Once the horse is in your possession your responsibility to the horse is the same as if you had picked it up directly from the facility. If, for any reason, you need to return the horse you will have to work with Grant and arrange a date for YOU to take it back to the BLM facility.
7. Questions? If you have any questions about this procedure please call or email Grant for clarification. Hecan be reached via phone at 760 384-5765 or email at glockie@blm.gov.
