Facebook Pages

Ross Jacobs – I highly recommend you like and subscribe to this page. The Facebook articles are very well written and I have loved reading just about every “article” Ross has written.

Training Videos

I use and recommend GiddyUpFlix. It is like NetFlix but for horse training videos! http://giddyupflix.com/

WILD HORSE HANDLING with Bryan Neubert – This is a great reference for gentling. It’s old…made over 10 years ago, but has lots of great information and takes you with one gelding from wild to Bryan being able to approach him, pick up his feet, and even jump up on him for a couple seconds.

The First Touch: Gentling Your Mustang with Lesley Neuman – Another great reference for gentling. She uses a couple different horses. Overall great reference.

Books

Clicking the pictures below will open up a new tab for Amazon. I do receive a very small percentage of the purchase of these items as an Amazon Affiliate. This applies ONLY to the books listed below. I only list books I personally own and like. All opinions are my own.

Natural Horsemanship by Pat Parelli
This was the book I purchased when I was 16 and still making payments on a not-yet-weaned Quarter Horse mare named Who Dat Smokin. I studied this book at night and practiced by day. Who Dat turned out to be one heck of a kids horse and is still in the family and used to teach the littlest riders.

Downunder Horsemanship by Clinton Anderson
I saw Clinton perform at EquineAffaire in Pomona, CA one year. Although I’m partial to Parelli because that’s how I got started, Parelli isn’t a good fit for everybody. Clinton presents a lot of the same fundamental material with a different take on it. His book is good and anything that can help you gain respect and control of your horse’s body is a good thing. There is more than one way to accomplish the same goal.

True Horsemanship Through Feel by Bill Dorrance
Great book with lots of good information. It’s a long read but well worth it. Bill Dorrance was a mentor to many of the well known horsemen today. If I wind up with 10% of the skill set I believe this man had when it comes to developing a relationship with horses I’ll be the better for it!

Bombproof Your Horse by Sgt. Rick Pelicano

Lots of great bombproofing ideas in here. I’m constantly on the lookout for things to desensitize my horses too. This book is a neat resource.
