Still practicing daily skills with Ruby like tying and going over scary things in the obstacle course. Here are some pictures from this morning!

January 4th, 2015

Ruby is doing great. She leads, ties and picks up all four feet. She’s ready to start learning about having them picked out. Here is a picture from our training session today!

Lots of just cuddle time with Ruby. She is tying really well now but not so sure about being approached while tied. We’ve been working on getting her used to having her legs touched by the rope which worries her a bit. I have also started introducing her to what it means to get a bucket of supplements (just alfalfa pellets and a ration balancer for now). She thinks that is GREAT! She’s an awesome little filly. Going to make someone a really nice horse one day!

November 30, 2014 – Obstacle Course Day 2

Second day for Ruby on the obstacle course. She was great. She conquered the mattress and bridge for the first time today!

November 23, 2014 – Training Day 2

Lots of fun stuff for Ruby today! She was doing so well leading around her pen we ventured out of her stall for the first time. Not one issue! Only thing that worried her was the threshold coming out of her stall. Everything else was clear sailing. She walked around light as a feather on the line, never tried to bolt off or test it. Happy camper to just follow me around everywhere, even to the obstacle course where she couldn’t see any of her equine friends. She called out to them once then continued on following me around. We were able to walk over all of the basic step over obstacles including ground poles, the hi/lo and the raised telephone pole. Such a smart baby. We ended the day by having Ruby accompany me as I fed all the other horses. She got to meet Butterfly (who was NOT pleased with her being near her hay) and Malibu who was VERY VERY interested in her. She got to come help feed all the geldings and all the burros then got to go back in her stall and eat dinner. Great, successful day for this baby.

November 22, 2014 – Training Day 1

Oh my gosh! NOTHING more fun than playing with a cuddly baby! Ruby is such a gem! She is so sweet, not one mean bone in her. She is a smart cookie too! Already learning how to lead around, can be touched and approached on both sides. Such a good girl. Pictures or video tomorrow it was getting dark by the time I worked with her today!
