Houston - Day 31

I have been spending lots of time with Houston not asking him to do much except hang out with me. Whereas he was a bit standoffish he will now come to the gate and generally thinks I am interesting. Today we worked on grooming and had another lesson with his feet. He has been doing more »

Houston - Day 20

Worked briefly with Houston this AM. Spent some time grooming him and he’ll now accept the brush all over his body without picking up his feet or moving off when the brush touches his legs. Houston - Day 12

Today Houston worked some more on catching. He’s almost 100% at turning to the inside when being asked to change direction in his corral. He’s getting better and better at being caught. We’re doing lots of approach and retreat with him. Houston also learned how to load into a trailer today. He was super worried more »

Houston - Day 11

Houston had a great review session today. Reviewed grooming and he’s doing much better with his right side. Worked some more on the obstacle course and he’s starting to get the hang of where to put his feet. Houston had his first rinse-off as well today. Houston - Day 7

Worked with Houston today on grooming and desensitization of his lower legs. He’s very good just not sure about having us touch him below the knees. Not spooky about it just picks his legs up like uh hello…that tickles! Also working with him on keeping us in his right eye. He is definitely left sided more »

Houston - Day 5

Houston was great today. First day outside his pen. He started off a little heavy on the line and worried which is normal. Started with work on trailer loading. Got him to where he would consistently put two feet in. He wasn’t comfortable though with the idea of coming all the way in the trailer more »

Houston - Day 2

Good session with Houston tonight. Really working on lightening him up on the lead line. He’s starting to really get it. Worked him some with the tarp on the ground. He took to that pretty easy as well. A little bit of snorting but immediately wanted to investigate it. Didn’t take much to ask him more »
