We finally made some time to film Laredo picking up his feet. He still gets worried about it but he’s learning to hold them up longer and longer.

Laredo is doing great. He has been learning how to stand tied in different places around the ranch.

Laredo has been progressing very nicely with his training. Here is some video of him haltering and going on the obstacle course. He also learned how to load into the horse trailer.

August 10, 2015 – Training Day 3

Wasn’t sure what Laredo and I were going to work on when I first started today. I was hoping to get his halter tightened up on his face. He’s been fairly friendly and pretty readily allows us to pet him on his forehead so I was hoping for more body contact as well. Right away he started off a little wary of my approach. Pretty quickly I realized that he was actively blocking me. He was OK with me petting his forehead but was NOT ok with me being on the side of him. So we worked on that for a bit until he was more comfortable with me on the left side of his neck. We made really nice progress in an only 15 min training session. Very happy with him.

August 5, 2015 – Training Day 1

Worked with Laredo today. His biggest issue is focus. He isn’t afraid of me at all but he also doesn’t acknowledge I exist. I spent the first few minutes in the pen with him getting him to focus on me instead of trying to walk through me. From there I was able to start working with him on yielding to pressure on the lead line. He picked it up VERY quickly. The video shows the first time I had ever picked up his lead rope and so you can see how responsive he is. He still needs work, obviously, but I was very happy with his first training session.
