March 18, 2015  – Update

We haven’t been posting as much for Gunner because his adopter has been coming out every weekend. The first weekend he was here he went on the obstacle course. Last weekend we cinched him up with the bareback pad for the first time (he didn’t care). Last night we worked more on picking up feet. He’s doing great! Here is a video:

March 12, 2015 Since I skipped yesterday with Gunner, tonight before feeding time I worked with him on haltering, picking up all four feet and touching all the way down both back legs. He’s a good boy and had no issues at all.

March 10 Update

Gunner had two sessions over the weekend with his adopter including a successful first trip to the obstacle course. He’s doing great and can already be haltered in the big arena. We are working with Gunner to get his picking up feet requirements met. We are able to pick up both front and hoping to start the rear tomorrow.

March 5, 2015 – Day 2

Didn’t do much with Gunner today. I had some visitors and Gunner didn’t have any issue with letting a “stranger” love on him. Since it is only day 2 really we are all strangers but he thinks being pet is great! Worked a little bit on leading in his stall and haltering. I can walk up and halter him no problem in his 24 x 24. Because he’ll have tomorrow off I went ahead and let him out into the arena after our training session so I could use his stall to work Yankee. If I have enough moonlight tomorrow I’ll see what he thinks about being approached in the large pen.

March 4, 2015 – Arrival Day

First day for Gunner and he’s definitely the super star of the load! Horses that come in from the BLM are all on their own program and one that is worried is normal. Gunner is a little worried but already on the first day he is leaning in to be pet, can be led around his stall, is learning how to pick up his front feet, has been measured with a height stick and Oh…he can smile for the camera too! Such a ham.
