Gasston
Gasston is a 4yo gelded jack being gentled as part of the Humane Society’s Platero Project. He was gathered from Outside a Herd Area in California and will be halter started, lead, pick up all four feet and load into a trailer. This page will provide potential adopters with information about his training.

Lots of work with Gasston and he’s turned into a really nice, compliant donkey. He’ll go anywhere you ask without protest. Doesn’t ever offer to kick. LOVES to be all up in your business when you clean stalls and is especially fond of carrots! He is ready to find his forever home! Check out his video on the obstacle course!

Continued working with Gasston on leading and trailer loading. He is coming along very nicely and now meets all program requirements!
May 14, 2014
We have been working on Gasston to teach him to lead. He has now gotten the hang of it. Sometimes he’ll kinda hang his head on the line in protest but he leads very nicely and after a couple laps around the property is much more interested in where he is going than protesting! We have been working with him on picking up all four feet and he is doing well. He was started on trailer loading tonight and is doing very good. In one more lesson he should be trailer loading like a pro!
May 3, 2014 – Day 5
Gasston has been our most easily approached of the four donkeys we just received in for training but we learned today that doesn’t mean he’s going to be easy. Haltering was a non-issue for Gasston but boy was he NOT happy about being asked to lead. No worries though, we’ll work with him to help him figure out that a Donkey that knows how to lead gets to do lots of cool stuff including going outside his stall!
