Fantassy

Posted by in .

Fantassy is a 5yo pink BLM Burro. She was gathered in June of 2012 from Cibola-Trigo HMA in Arizona. Fantassy is being gentled as part of the Humane Society’s Platero Project. She will be halter started, lead, pick up all four feet and load into a trailer. This page will provide potential adopters with information about her training.

Fantassy has been adopted! She went home with her buddy Enchantrass.

Fantassy has come a long way since we first brought her in. She is still shy and reserved and unsure but will have Enchantrass to continue to help build her confidence in her new home. Here is a quick video we shot of her picking up all four feet. We had just unloaded her from the trailer and realized in hindsight we should have straightened her out before asking her to pick up her feet.

Donkey trailer loading! Both Fantassy and Enchantrass will load in and out of our trailer with ease. Fantassy is more of a coon jumper…leaps all four feet at once most of the time!

Played with Fantassy this weekend.  She is very apprehensive so we did lots of approach and retreat Saturday and Sunday. She would rather not share her space with you and was more guarded of her right side than her left. We finally convinced her that it was OK to take a carrot from us. So we are going to try and use that as a building block towards acceptance!

About 20 minutes of fence time with the two burros today. They are pretty afraid and want to hide in a corner so just spent time at the fence with food in the middle of the pen allowing them to build confidence to be an extra 12′ closer to me!
